I just got a 1989 Pioneer I6 4.0L with an AW-4 trans. All stock parts but in fantastic condition and just have some questions.

1. Upon Start I'll have an issue with a high idol. This happens on occasion. It always starts high but here and there will go down to normal. Without a tacometer I can't tell where it is, also this is my first 6 cylinder engine so the sounds are new to me. I'm thinking the throttle body is the culprit but unsure.

2. Power/Comfort switch... WTF?

3. The 4WD Lever won't come out of 2H. I can pull as hard as I like but it sticks to 2H. Any ideas?

My car before this was a 1993 Wrangler I4 2.5L with and AX-5 Trans. So most other things are easy to figure out since they are somewhat similar.

 

not positive on this but some cars have a high idle feature for warm up when cold but ither then that clean the tps and iac the power comfort switch controls the transmision shift points from what i hear since mine doesnt have one most people just leave it on power they say it shifts better and the transfer case try greasing up the linkage and making sure it isnt bent or anything and if that dont help you probably have a bent shift fork or some other problem inside the tcase
