1989 jeep cherokee pioneer starts then bogs down and dies after 10-15 seconds

Default 1989 jeep cherokee pioneer starts then bogs down and dies after 10-15 seconds

1989 jeep cherokee pioneer starts then bogs down and dies after 10-15 seconds. Will start right back up then bogs down and dies. Initially when starting, it has 30+ psi at the rail that slowly decreases to just above 10 when it dies. Replaced fuel pump and filter. Switched relay, same problem. No kinks in fuel line. Noticed there is no fuel coming out pressure regulator after initial start. Tested voltage at pump, 12v. Any idea?

You can check the pressure regulator by unplugging the vacuum line when it is running. you should then read about 39 psi on the rail.

Bypassed the balllast resistor and now it runs.. thx for the help, nothing like spending 3 days and a few hundred then figuring out its a ten minute fix..

I checked the pressure with the vac line off and there wasn't any change so I removed the fuel line coming out of the pressure reg to see if the diaphram was stuck open and the gas flow out stopped when the pressure dropped in the rail so I ruled it out, probably not the safest or correct way to check it. I Tried pinching off the return line back by the tank as well but for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to pull the line off. Thx for the help.
