1989 comanche brake routing
i recently aquired a 1989 comanche 4x4 4.0 auto. ive been fixing misc issues and now i have a brake leak. i believe it is where the metal line comes through the driver front fender. the previous owner lifted it and moved the brake lines now it looks like that line is rubbing on the metal. does anyone have a brake routing diagram. i am just curious where all the lines go and if i can simplify the system any to get rid of more places that a leak might occur. thanks

On my 89 the brake lines run straight down from the master cylinder to the inside of the frame. Then run all along the inside of the frame to the rear tires.

one thing that i am confused on is my driver side front line comes straight from the regulator below the master cylinder but the passenger side seems like it comes from the back axle. there is some kind of assembly at the back that has multiple lines criss crossing. i dont get it a guy at work has an 89 xj and his back is just a simple one line into a tee then out. ill take pictures in the day light tommorow to help clarify my wtf situation

MJ's have a valve for the rear brake that the XJ's don't. Its to controll the rear brake pressure depending on the load you have in the bed. If it's original it should also have a rod connected to the rear axle at the diff cover.

My rod was connected wrong and when I put it back in the correct Location the valve worked properly. I would probably hook it up and see what happens. Is the arm still on the valve? If so you can make a new rod from a piece of threaded rod and a couple of ball joints. If it works I would leave it alone and fix the leak. Also try comancheclub.com you can post a want ad and someone on there will probably have what you need.
