Hi,
New here. Just inherited an 89 Jeep Cherokee Laredo and am needing to replace the starter. I ran into some problems and unfortunately the green solenoid S wire (to ignition switch) has been severed and requires repair. Is it okay to splice this wire with a new connector? Has anyone done that before? It seems okay to do, but have no experience doing that and would love to hear from someone else. Please me know, thanks!

If you mean the one from the low left connector that comes from the ignition switch (Ignition Terminal), Yes. It provides 12v (key to START), closes the relay which sends 12v from the battery terminal to the Starter Solenoid Terminal. The relay is grounded through the NSS (if auto).
That is the one indeed! The terminal is okay, but the wire end, thin metal loop part snapped off. I'm really hoping that can be fixed because otherwise this is a lot of wires going & joining the opposite end. The Googling with the AI is not helpful and this seems like this should be doable, I just don't know how.
