Very good point. Everyone is looking for a 4wd truck for snow, unless you are in an area where you don't get any.

On the other hand, great time to buy a motorcycle.

One engine that can be swapped in is a 4.3, lots of wrecked S10 trucks out there with the 4.3 that can be bought, everything pulled out for the swap. Then sell to the junk yard, that way you get everything you need, engine, computer, fuel pump, fuel injection system, exhaust manifold, etc.

Hell, not just S10s unless they have something special thats not included elsewhere.

The Chevy Astro Van had the 4.3 with an AWD mated to it, as does the GMC counter part.

 

Your right a lot of different vehicles came with the 4.3, I just figured that with a 4x4 rig the transmission and transfer case could be pulled and used if needed. Or parts that helped adapted to the 4x4 system.

 

Thats why I suggested also looking at their vans. TONS of them also came with AWD, sometimes incorrectly refferred to as 4 wheel drive.
