Default 1987 Cherokee 4.0 wont start!

Hi all, I am new to the forum and need help in troubleshooting my XJ. I have a 1987 XJ, 4.0 engine, a few day ago the battery came loose and shorted to the hood. After the incident the engine wouldn't crank at all. I fixed the battery hold down problem, replaced the starter relay, and found the ground strap to the back of the head burned through and replace that. Now the engine will crank with the starter, but will not fire. I can hear the fuel pump when the ignition is turned on and seem to have pressure at the fuel rail. I don't know where to check next. Thank you in advance for any help!

Check for spark is what you could do next. Would be good to actually verify fuel pressure too. Oh and you have a Renix....something tells me a wise old friend will be here soon...

Check for spark as suggested already. This could be easy or could be a nightmare. The relay you replaced: It has fusible links coming off it? Are any of them burned? Look closely as they look just like wires.......

Thank you for the replys, I will check for spark, also, the fuel rail has pressure, and the fuel pump runs when the key is turned on. I'm just not sure whether the injectors are operating.

Well, checked the fuseable links, all good, 12 volts to the ICM, replaced the coil with new, still no spark?

Hard to diagnose not being there.

Tested the CPS?

Not yet, guess that will be next on the list! Just wondering about the ICM, I have 12 volt on one side where the coil pins engage, closest to the firewall, but only .8 volts on the other one. Just wondering if this is normal, of if there is something going on in that module?

Might have to throw a known good used one in. I've never seen a good test for ICMs.
