Default 1986 ignition switch

hello all i have a 1986 Cherokee and when i bought it it was running fine last week however on the highway my turn signals, wind shield wipers, radio and ac all went out at the same time. so i first thought of fuses checked them all they are all fine next i thought a main relay no difference after changing it so i was fumbling around and turned the key all the way back and eureka! it all came back on however it will not work unless the key is turned all the way back so i figure it must be the ignition switch. well what i want to know is the location of the ignition switch and how to get to it. and if possible if you guys have videoes or pictures. Thank you guys in advance for any help

There is an adjustment for the ignition switch, the switch is located on the steering column down by the brake pedal. Only two small cap screws hold the switch on.

x2...ignition switch on steering column....take it off and check the sliding contacts....old ones eventually disintegrate causing short/bad contact....if the contacts/plastic is shot, you may have to visit jy and pick one up...good luck!

A brand new switch will set you back about 20 bucks from any parts house.

Talking maybe my problem too?

ok, i've been having starting problems.

ok, i've been trying to figure out whats wrong with my car. '97 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4x4 6 cylinder.
started out car not starting, didn't respond to jump start. starts randomly. decide to change the starter, its due. starts fine, next day, no start again. so, i replace the starter relay too. again- starts, then next day, same- starts randomly.
so, i figure it must have been the battery all along. i use my warranty and replace the battery. AGAIN, no start.

you think my last look is my ignition switch? should have been my first!
