1984 wagoneer limited
How can I tell what engine I have in this thing? Got it two days ago for $100 bucks. Put starter fluid in it and it cranked right up. Runs great which is a shocker. Just have no clue about jeeps. So I don't know what engine it has.
I am a big fan of the General outside of a recent Jeep interest, so it pains me to say this, but if it has the 2.8, GET OUT NOW. If you don't sell it or trade it for magic beans, establish a plan to swap it out. That 2.8 will break, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow.
No, scratch that, it will probably be today or tomorrow.
If you print out a torque/hp curve chart for the 2.8, the printer you used has more torque and about the same hp.
The 2.8 is what the military would label a "force divider" - it produces the power of a 1.8 with the noise and fuel consumption of a small block.
