Default 06 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X2 whining

I have 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x2 it has 137000 miles. It used to make a whining noise when I accelerated. Then I turned off the car and when I restarted the noise stopped. It has been about a month now and the noise was just back. When I accelerate it makes a whining noise but when I get to about 40mph (cruising speed) it stops. I restarted car and it no longer makes the noise. The transmission slips occasionally and I think it is going to go soon. Does anybody know why it is making This whine?

no because I have heard that putting fresh fluid in will cause it to slip since it is older with high mileage

Ya can't spoil a rotten egg.

Oil wears out no matter where it is. No clue what trans you have, how it's been maintained (or lack of) . Guarenteed it won't get better if you don't change it.
Are you even sure it's the trans making the noise?

If you consider 137k high milage, better get something different. And then keep up on the maintenance.
