Default 0331 head swap

I have the 0331 head on my 00 xj and im at 152xxx miles right now. I can get a head off of a 99 xj w/ 240xxx miles for around 80$. Should i get it and keep it incase my chit head goes soon? Or am i better off buying a reman head. Im just not sure if that heads any better with that many miles...

Thanks guys!

Yes,GET It! 99 is one of my favorite pre distributorless ignition years. It willnot have the coil pack bosses, you will have to fashun up some brackets. I have to do same for my 2000 im working on now. Ive got a 92 head, that has the coolant temp sensor also in the head that I have to plug, but also a good head. I ported my 99s head back in 2011 to the limit, and havent had any problems with Her, after 1300 Hard BreakIn miles.

Buy a HO head I believe it's 7120 casting. It's what I did when I rebuilt my engine all you got to do is get a old style exhaust manifold and get an exhaust shop to weld in o2 bungs and keep 1 pre cat and bend little tabs for the coil pack .

7120 is from 91 thru 95. In 96 the 0630 head came on board untill the 0331 in 2000 for Cherokees and Wranglers. The Late Grands got 0331 in 99. Also a 2002 thru 2006 0331 TUYP (brazilian made) 4.0 head is a Very good choice. Then You have the coil bosses and a tough crack resistant head all in 1 package.
