Default 01 XJ pulling hard left when brakes applied

All,

Yep, a hard pull to left when braking. Tracks straight until you apply brakes. Recent rear brake job, and was fine until recently.

Thoughts ?
TIA,
SeaVee

right caliper is seized open (sliders).
i would start by pulling the caliper and greasing up the sliders.
if that doesn't work, you will need to replace it, the piston is likely seized.

Yeah I had that happen once on a Chevy pickup, except it seized partially engaged so the truck pulled right all the time except when braking pulled left!

I've also apparently had mud/rocks jam in the calipers and prevent them from closing. Anyway, bad pulling to one side or another when braking, that magically corrected itself soon after. This coincided with driving on our muddy county road and then going to town.

Thanks guys, no mud or sand. New pads and wheel cylinders on back, new pads up front.

As has been mentioned you have an underperforming right front caliper. Find out why. If you replace the caliper make sure you replace the hose too.

cool new pads. You did grease the slide pins and standard routine right.
