The squeeling could also be the wear pins showing on the pads.
Thats also a possibilty, or you could have a rock or some other junk stuck inbetween the pads and the rotor but more the likely its just worn brake pads or a dirty slide thats causing the squeek.

Well its kind of hard to answer that.
As with anything mechanical; you have to do process of elimination. It is possible as said earlier that the t-converter is going bad. The converter coming in and out of lock-up would cause the rpm to be up and down. thats why i suggested that you check that sensor. Now i don't know if that the t/c sensor would throw a code. it should but i can't say for sure. I'm pretty new to the cherokee, but know this stuff in-general.

If its more of a fuel cutting out (bogging down) issue it could also be a bad fuel filter. If you ran the tank close to empty just a 1 time with an old filter; then pump is pumping all the dirt from the bottom of the tank into the fuel system and the filter is so spent that it can't keep up with filtering it anymore.

What i think is that you have 2 problems here. 1-the tranny is going. thats pretty much a given. you can tell that by the burnt fluid. so one may have nothing to do with the other pursay.

You might have good fuel pressure, but that does not mean the your entire fuel system doesn't need to be cleaned and flushed out and fuel filter changed. The dirt in the system at the time you checked the f/p could have traveled through the fuel return line and thus you had good pressure.

So. Imo, get another tranny and thorouly go through the fuel system. Also check the crank and or cam sensor. I don't know if jeeps have both or 1 0f them. that could be it too.

Hope that helps somewhat.

I have a constant squeak coming from the front brakes now. it goes away when i put ON the brakes. Im starting to think it is a caliper draggin a lil. i will replace those when i get the extra moola and see if that cures the problem.
