00' XJ Will not turn over
Alright so i've done my searching and reading, time to post this because im stumped.
All stock 2000 cherokee sport. Turn the key to start, click under dash, doesnt turn over.
With the key held in the start position, there is no 12v present at the solenoid wire on the starter
Battery is brand new.
Battery cables were replaced / grounds all cleaned/replaced about 6 months ago
Starter turns over if jumped between solenoid/battery.
Pulled NSS apart and cleaned it.
Jumped NSS across B & C terminals
Switched starter relay with a coinciding O2 sensor relay
The jeep actually randomly would do this, i would turn it to start and get nothing but could just try again after 5-10 seconds and it would act normal. It recently got to doing it more often and more often until today it will not turn over at all.
ANY ideas that doesnt say the same thing all the other similar threads cover would be greatly appreciated.
Also im sure it would not hurt to mention, but about a week ago I drove the jeep about 30 miles, set down at ate somewhere. Came back out and headed home, looked like the headlights were slightly flickering, few minutes later the volt reading on the dash pinned at 19 and check gauges light came on. Turned the jeep off, tryed to start and it sounded horribly weak but did start. Got it home, recleaned and tightened the battery cables and it hasnt acted like that since. It only did that one occurance so im not sure if they are related issues or not.

Well the problem is solved, and it was the last thing i would ever suspect.
I removed the trim under the steering column and was going to suspect the ignition switch, and when i removed the metal plate under the dash I found a little black box tucked up in the wires that someone had installed. On the rear of it it said yellow wire ignition switch and etc etc. It was some cheap crappy remote start / alarm something another that i had no idea was in there. Disconnected the box and soldered the wire coming from ignition switch back together and it fired right up.
Thanks for the help all the same though
