00 XJ want to replace sensors ect
I have a 2000 XJ with well over 200k I know the motors are bullet proof. However, I have to replace the head gasket, nasty white crap. With income tax season coming up I want to put a couple hundred into the motor. With sensors I don’t know much about. With that said can y’all guide me on what I should replace/upgrade? Any other suggestions on what I could do? I understand the fuel injection upgrade and plan on that. Basically just a mini refurbish haha. I will also continue to browse, I just don’t know what to really search for, thanks.

Are you having to add any antifreeze to your coolant reservoir?
How do you know the headgasket is bad? Have you run a compression test?
What do you mean by "nasty white crap". Is that on the oil filler cap?
There is a known cylinder head defect with the 00-01 XJ. Not saying that is in play here, but that is why I asked the above questions.

It definitely needs a head gasket, runs terrible, smokes and the oil is milky, yeah there is a nasty white oily stuff on the cap and on the head, I bought it like that it was only $400. it’s been sitting, ive been fixing body damage. I more less just want to replace known issues and upgrade parts, give it new life. I will have the head machined and checked out for sure.

That head must be checked out for cracks. If it is cracked and coolant has been running through the engine for more than a short time, that trashes engine bearings very quickly, and then you would have bigger issues. Keep that in mind as you proceed.
