Some changes are coming to CF but good changes. Just like everything else, it takes some funding to run stuff like this. Especially if the site keeps growing and members keep joining.

Lets clarify something. It's not a live chat on the site. What it entails is Tire Rack will sponser a wheel and tire section. What this gives members is a discount, and a person on the site who can answer questions pertaining to tires and wheels. So basically if you post a question an official tire rack rep can jump on and answer it. Should prove to be a great service to members.
Something to keep in mind folks is Internet Brands has several automotive related sites. When a company sponsers they sponsor the whole package. It's not just this site it's across the board. Bottom line this isn't a privately owned site so the goal will always be to make money. However IB is sensitive to the feelings of the membership at large. They are always communicating with me on new items and what will and won't work. I give my input and they make a decision. Now there will be some business decsions I won't be aparts but well it's not my job. If I see something I know the members won't like I speak up.
As a paying member you actually get a couple items. You get to surf virtually ad free. I know the ad rotations are pretty much gone for paying members. You alway get access to the underground area which basically gives you the ability to pretty much cut lose and not worry about the general over site restrictions on posting. They could make a heck of a lot more thatn $20 a year that you pay for premium membership off ads. So I think that's a pretty solid deal.
Just keep some of that in mind. I don't know many large sites that don't have ads. It takes a lot money to operate a site of this size. Software, hardware and bandwidth costs some cash.
