Im newish to this forum but have seen it done on other forums and club sites. Over at mr2oc.com when you go to a section like 84-89 MR2's, at the top will be a sticky called "free parts thread" and its a thread just for that. FREE parts related to 84-89 MR2's. the only expense someone would have to dish out is shipping cost if it wasn't local. It's a pretty cool idea and it's a way to have a chance to get rid of things someone might need that you dont need/want and/or dont really care to sell it. It's also easier to find the stuff that people are giving away rather than have them mixed in with a "98 XJ part-out" which ends up being 5-9 pages long and not knowing if its gone or not. the free parts thread is also cleaned up so its not pages long.

for example: say I have a free steering wheel, I post in the thread for free stuff and offer it up. someone nearby wants it, we get in touch meet up whatever and then state in the thread its been picked up and my post will be deleted. So if its still up then its still available.

I looked and searched before I made this so hopefully I didnt miss it if this was discussed before. I think its a good idea. I'm sure others would too.

so each sub section under "buy, sell, trade" will have a sticky named "free parts thread" specific to the category/section you're in.

That's not a bad idea. We used to have a pay it forward thread... Basically the same thing. But it turned into a "does anybody have this item for free" thread.

 

I know I have a huge list of **** I would like to give away.

 

Just throw it up in the appropriate for sale section or your local section.

 

Yea, i saw that thread actually earlier today. Seems like a cool idea but can get risky because of the honor system.

That right there is perfect example. lol

I also have a headliner that could be used for someones project or practice piece for an idea some one may have.

 

Post it for free in your regional section.
