Ok I read the thread and IMHO the initial post really did not violate the law per say. I guess we have taken a hardline stance on cat removal threads because we have in the passed had folks discuss removing them as a viable mod and actually suggested to folks to remove them. So yes we do at times get fanatical about that topic. Threads like the one in question I think would have been best left a lone and I think how the members who posted after the original poster was fine. Everyone pretty much backed up the law and site rules by suggesting that the member replace it and not run without a cat. So at the end of the day a mistake was made and unfortunately it happens and will likely happen again. Just keep in mind even us mods have bad days, make a bad call and simply make mistakes as well. We are only human after all. We can take this as a learning experience.
In the future I request that member report the thread and then post that way as to what they feel was handled wrong and so on. That we the staff will see it and we can handle it appropriately and things do not get out of hand.

Totally understandable. If anything, I should aplogize for running my mouth. I just thought people were going to get infractions, and I felt it was unneccesary.

5. Do not talk about illegal activity on this forum. This includes illegal drugs, parties, wheeling, internet use, etc. Violators of this rule will be dealt with on a case by case basis. This rule includes the discussion of removing catalytic convertors, this is illegal and not allowed to be discussed on this site.
"is it worth buying a new one or just keep it the way it is and as far as i know i wont be driving in califorina so i aint scared about emissoins"
"if you dont have a cat you loose important backpressure..... "
are these statements not discussing removal of cat? and not installing a new one? did i give everyone a infraction? no... i gave the two people who didnt say it was illegal and instead discussed what would happen and why not leave it illegal... and left it at that... i gave them to the two who "discussed" the situation... i thank those who told him it was illegal... i was however a little ill that not a one of them reported the page... I do not feel that i was over the top by any means... this rule is posted all over the place... more so then any other rule probly... yet nobody seems to care... and it always turns into something like this... somebody gets mad because they get there feeling hurt when if they had just followed the rules in the first place there would be no problems...
everyone else got to publicly voice there opinion... so this is mine...

Are you serious about not talking about wheeling on this site. Ive seen tons of threads on wheelin. Ive even talked about it a time or two. I hope im not referring to things that arent allowed in my threads. No one has said so that im aware of.

It just seems you could have closed the thread and the issue would have been dropped. In past threads where people have removed the device intentionally the thread was closed and no more was said or done about it.
To me your main concern here is that no one reported the thread, and that's what got you mad. Some people never report a thread. You can't help that, or be everywhere dude. Try to relax and enjoy life. Things like this happen.

Bottom line the thread in question was not about removing the cat. He had to remove it due to damage. He then asked what he should do, ie should he leave it off or get a new one. He got the advice he asked. To me that's acceptable and ok. Now if he had come one and said I updated my exhaust and removed the cat and went stright pip and so on. When it comes to cat topics you have to use judgement and decide is the person trying to violate the law or are they asking a real questions. This specific post fell into a grey area and IMHO was acceptable.
Situation is handled and delt with and at this point discussing it further is a mute point. I made my decision and it's final move on.

glad to see this turned into a bit of a topic, i myself was worried of the infraction thing for pointing him towards the vendor, but anyways anyone reading this here thread should take at least this away from it (yes including myself).
It is a great reminder on the rules, we see threads sometimes, and just dont think about it before replying.....take a minute to remember the cat laws AND cat rules (among others) on here....or read on it if you have not done so....it really IS posted all over....
If a thread is questionable (for whatever reason)....report it....it at the very least gets the attention deserved from who needs to give it attention (mods), this is needed to keep im sure what is most of our favorite site, out of the firebox.
and last but not least, the mods are people, and sometimes get fired up just like the rest of us (i know it was already stated...), but they do treat it like a job (you take your job seriously too right?)...they just dont get paid, its about the interest in this whole scene and vehicle *and interest to keep both around*, the same reason ANY of us are on here. So i give thumbs up and respect to you guys also.
For some reason I just felt the need to add this in, carry on lol.

It's good to take it off topic. This issue wasn't really an issue in the first place. If anything, it was my fault for misunderstanding what reporting really is. It woulda been better to report it JUST to keep it on watch in case things went.. illegal. I thought reporting the thread woulda resulted in immediate closure and warning. I apologize for that.

yeah it sure didnt... but good news is i get to keep my jeeps... lol...
and naw it just sends the post into a thread that we can see and we review it to see what actions need to be taken... thats all... just hard for us to see every single post in every thread in every section... so this sends us a direct link to the problem...
