Default Rausch Creek, PA - 9-6 - 9-9-07, 56k take a long long walk

This is the trip video all edited up.

We head out around 5 from my house, Dan behind me

The disaster strikes, smoke everywhere, dan is flashing his lights at me, so we pull off on the side of the highway

We open the hood, and theres a 2" wide hole in his engine block. so we call a truck to tow him to the campground, so in the meantime we play Smash Brothers on the side of i80 with trucks flying by at 70mph 3 feet away

We finally make it to camp and play with the Nylints

Next mornin we enter the park, not 5 mins in Hawk bends his tie rod pretty badly, we stop to repair

As we're working, some army CH-47 was flyin exercises around the area,

We get it fixed, and head into the competition course area, where we spent all of day 1

over on Mammoth rock

then i was wheeling alone over in another section and got myself all fawked up

Hawk's camera ended up getting crushed by phils crossmember in the comp course, yes, its on video. haha

back to the campground we go

Hawk's camera.

Fred arrives on the scene and starts work on his axle, puttin the lockrite in

our site area

some creative camera exposure and a colored LED

Spread that RTV....

Fred spends all night workin on the Jeep, and the next morning we head back to the comp course to start the day

Steve tries a sick rock section

And then it begins...Fred's d35 carnage at CV trail

they get to fixin

hit it with some speed

I'm writing more in the next post, this ones gettin too long--------------------------------------------

So after 3 hours and 6 minutes of d35 wrenching on the trail, we're on our way again

The goods

I do some of CV trail

We rush out of the park as it seems as though its about to pour rain like hell, and we hit up the gas station for the essentials

obligatory sticker shot

So we get back to the campsite after Dan and Sam had gone off to Harry's U-Pull it over in Hazleton...they got a Mint 4.0 out of a ZJ for 110 bucks, and are ready to begin the swap.

But before we start that, we are heading off to Centralia, PA...the abandoned town with the underground mine fires.
We arrive at old Rt. 61, since closed off and abandoned to the elements

yeah yeah standard heavymetal scenic shots in Centralia's backcountry

We enter the road into the area

centralia, safest place ever.

We get back down to centralia's streets, where we try to find some wreckage/smoldering ruin....we come across the houses ive heard so much about

More of Centralia's scenic backcountry

It is dark and we are wandering around an abandoned town with no idea where anything is, so we decide to pack up and head out back onto old Rt 61 and the main road, got a few more pics

everyone on old 61

Final post coming up next....

We get back to the campsite and get down to business with the 4.0 swap, and get the old one out and the new one lowered in with our winch-pully-tree-tow strap-engine hoist...

the next day we head back into Rausch to tackle some harder stuff.

We head into the woods, and a little while in, Fred's procomp blows its sidewall, and not 20 mins after, blows another d35 shaft, so he says for us to head off into the park and he'd take care of the damage and call us up when he was done

we dive into Rock Creek

Steve and Erik take off to go home, and we head down the trail

Which is dusty as bloody hell i might add

Sam gets into a couple reds/blacks towards the back of the park

Then his near roll, if it weren't for trees

we eventually get him out of it and its about time to leave the park..theyre closing up soon

back to 0 visibility for me

It's not a wheeling trip without breaking something! (Or in this case almost everything.) Looks like a good trip.
