Please someone!!! I need a 231J transfer case for my 93 XJ.
If I dont get one soon I'll die from mud withdrawls!!!
I live in mid California zip code 94585. I dont mind paying for shipping, as long as i know it works.

No pull-a-parts close to you? No salvage yard? No one selling C4C vehicles? That's going to be one of the cheapest places to get one.

 

I have a pick-n-pull near me, but i wanted one i could count on.
if i pull one should i get it tested or just hook it up and see what happens?
I honestly dont know how these things work.

 

Ahh 231s are good transfers. They are easy to pull out, and you could just turn the input shaft and check if the output turns in 2 wheel and if both outputs turn in 4 wheel. Drain some fluid and see if theres any metal chunks in it. I wouldn't really think twice about getting one from a pull a part (as long as it doesn't have anything rattling around) and throwing it right in. You'll be slinging mud before you know it.
By the way, how did you break yours?

 

Well I think it was broken when I got it. Its not totally blown yet, but it will soon. thanks for the advice.
