I have a 1998 XJ with 112K miles that I am converting over to a 4WD. Engine runs well, but has a popped freeze plug on the back of the head. Can start and run to check it out. Very clean inside and outside. Was not run hot - I bought the Jeep knowing it had a small leak in that freeze plug. It was a small trickle, had been sitting a couple of years or so and finally gave way when I started to drive it home. Did not push it, had it hauled home.

Most guys I know replace the oil pump, timing set, gaskets and freeze plugs anyhow when swapping a motor (while it is out and accessible) , so not a lot of extra work involved.

Jeep has been taken care of (inside and out) and it shows. I have a complete '99 4WD drivetrain I'm installing and a complete additional '98 4WD drivetrain as a spare, so I don't need this 3rd engine sitting here. Local pickup only, buyer is responsible for pulling it (taking what you need).

Price is $300 and includes: Engine, waterpump (newer), hoses, belt, all sensors, engine wiring harness, exhaust manifold, idler pully, engine driven fan. No A/C compressor, alternator, power steering pump, or starter included in price.
