Default Need some opinions.

I have a 200 xj with 3.5" lift, 265\75\16 tires and a stock dane 35 lowpinion rearend. I am thinking about putting an E-Locker on the rear, and I am not sure if I am going to keep the stock rear end. The wife and I will more than likly only do light to moderate trails, and for sure no severe rock crawling, so I am not sure if I need the E-Locker and if it is a good idea if I should change the rear end to something else before installing the locker. As you probably can tell we are really new to the 4 wheeling scene so any advice anyone has would be greeatly appriciated.

I'm assuming it's 4WD. I believe you'll be just fine w/out a locker. Watch some youtube vids. A stock XJ is a surprisingly capable vehicle for the use you've described. Enjoy!

Don't buy ANYTHING until you're sure of what you want to do. Personally, I wouldn't dump any money into a 35. Take 4WD's advice here...light to moderate trails you should be fine with what you have...when regearing, or adding lockers, it is extremely important to consider not only what kind of driving you do, both on and offroad, but what you'll WANT to do later on down the road. No need to do it twice. Other factors come into play here...gonna stay at 3", and current tire size? Plan on going bigger with either? ALL of this matters.

My advice to you is this:
Take your rig out wheeling and see what it can do. Even in stock form, these things are absolutely amazing. Don't try to be a hero, just do what you think you and your XJ can manage. Go from there.

Funny thing about these rides, though...they have a way of getting in your blood, and next thing you know, you're eating top ramen and tuna fish saving for your next big upgrade...ask me how I know, LOL....

Keep us posted on what you decide to do! We are here to help...

For sure!

Just a few more things to get until my next big upgrade...one of them is a $500 beater car for while my XJ is down revamping the suspension, steering, and plating the uniframe...so looks like some Maruchan and Chicken of the Sea for a bit, LOL
