I am at 4.75" -5" with 31"s and six inches of up-travel. Only rubs during those hard hitting Yee-Haw moments, but I run whoops and small jumps with no rubbing.

I suggest fitting the tires first! You should be OK, especially with proper bumpstops. 31"s already look too small at 4.5" lift.
Your 1997 model has larger front wheel wells. But if you are on short arms, without drop brackets, rubbing happens at rear of front fender flare and axle moves farther back as suspension droops.

If we're going to be pedantic about it, then my RC coils are a darker shade of gray than my RE coils were.

Advice for a newbie on a 99 XJ RWD! So guys I plan on doing a lift/wheels/tires to my car within the next 6 months or so. Ive already decided to go with 16 inch moab wheels and decided on the tire size at 245/75/16 which are gonna the BFG AT K/Os. very classic look to it

Ive decided that the lift size I want will be anywhere from 2-3 inch lift especially with the tire size I decided to plus I wanna keep the MPG as close as is, as possible. Now I dont know really to much about brands and quality of them. But here are the goals I want to achieve with the lift! Hopefully you guys can chime in

1. Smooth ride! this is my DD. I live In Florida, so 97% of the time I'm gonna be on the road/highway, doing errands around town and things of that nature. So I want very smooth drive most importantly.

2.Reliability! I plan on this being my first/last lift to the vehicle. I don't really mind spending the money and doing it the right way the first time and getting right. Sometimes cheap can be expensive. So not saying I need a $1600 emu kit, but have no issue paying upwards of around 1000 bucks or so.

3.Excellent suspension! That other 3% percent when Im at the beach/trail/forest etc. I want to be absolutely capable of handling what I can throw at it.

So that's it really! Im most importantly keeping a classy look to it. but any advice would be helpful! Thanks guys

Yep I agree.

Check out the 2.5" DPG kit, should cover all your bases.

much appreciated salad! that read was very helpful! and that seems to be really close to what I'm looking. and its a plus that the lift size seems perfect right at 2.5.

but thinking about it more when it comes to off road capability. I wont be doing anything crazy as far as mudding or going over crazy giant rocks or anything like that, more so really just beach and just light to mild trails worst thinking back to it.

So following the new info I gave you. I gound these kits through the thread you gave me

I'm just not to knowledgeable when It comes to these type of things. also would my tire size go fine with this lift (245/75/16? I want 30" tire so I was wondering if that a good size to go with as well? thanks again!

You say the trac bar is loose, but where? axle or frame side? do you have the correct size through bolt?

I am not planning on doing any off-roading except the occasional trip through the field. Installing the lift kit for more clearance in snow and was looking at the Metal Cloak because it was the only 3.5 inch lift I could find and was hoping it would give me the clearance to run the 31/10.5R15's. I know its a lot more money but that is not an issue. I just don't want to have to do any trimming. What if I went with a 3 inch lift and 30/9.50R15's and stock wheels? Any trimming need done that way. If I have to get aftermarket wheels than I can. Thanks

Every 3" lift will fit 31x10.5R15. Stock wheels gets you rubbing on the front suspension, there's no trimming that!

Give Zone a look. Just don't buy an Add-A-Leaf.
