Exactly! My '03 WJ 4x2 is pure pavement princess, and all mods done to her are specifically towing upgrades. It took a while, but I've got her dialed in to be a proper tow rig for my travel trailer. That being said, some times it comes down to having the funds, as I sold my old 4x2 XJ to my neighbor who had to scape together funds for a Dana 30, transfer case, suspension, tires, etc. It took him a while as well and now that old XJ is a decent rock monster. Time and experience is a valuable teacher, glad to have the folks on the forum as a resource.

You learn to pick your line carefully. Ive been places in my rear locked XJ my buddies full open diff Tj with same tires could not go. But vise versa as well. (Hill climbs need a run up in 2wd) Also its less finesse and more speed, break more stuff though, so replace and build stronger. Ill convert eventually, but hasn't been a big enough set back and lack the funds to do it now.

I'm just not sure what kind of wheeling you can do with the rear locked 2wd, or even an open four-wheel-drive for that matter. my Yota is locked front and rear and that's hardly enough sometimes. We must just hit different kinds of trails!
