Taking the doors off

first off, make sure it is legal in your state. if its anything like florida its perfectly legal as long as you have seatbelts and atleast 2 mirrors.
and the mirror is an easy fix you can get creative with.
heres how i did my mirrors. its a cheap strong magnet bolted to a cheapo auto-zone mirror. but its legal, works great, and doesnt fall off on the highway or trails. and it just pulls off whenever i put my doors back on.
as for the procedure, theres plenty of good writeups with pictures to guide you. and that will explain it alot better than i can here. but its a real easy job.0

Idk if someone would know this. Is it legal in New jersey as long as you replace the mirror? ... maybe ill just slap a wrangler sticker in my xj somewhere...

so, in short, to answer your question....
as long as you have a driver side mirror it is legal.
that being said, ive got a '94 country and, apparently, the previous owner just had to remove the doors. and, like everything else he did, it was done like chit.
the replacement hinge pins (quick release homemade types) he used werent an EXACT fit (in diameeter) so the door made funny clunking noises when they closed because the pin wasnt the right size. now, im not a picky jeeper by ANY means, but, a loud clunky door I cant live with. dents and dings and broken glass? sure.
while getting a CORRECT set (OEM) of hinge pins wouldnt be all the hard to come by, ive never seen the need to remove the doors.......
even when wheeling. im old school. i can lean my head out the winder.
but just wanted ta give ya another heads up on a 'potential' problem that might occur from removing/replacing the doors.
personally, if its a daily driver i wouldnt do it, but im not driving nor do i own YOUR jeep.

like alot of other states, as long as there is at LEAST a driver side mirror, it is perfectly legal. to be honest....the local jersey cops around me are pretty hardcore (to put it mildly) about writing tickets and i ALWAYS see CJs with no doors/mirrors and NEVER see em pulled over.

The doors do have alot to do with the structural stability of the jeep. Your probably gonna want to install either frame stiffeners or a roll cage on your jeep. I took the doors off my old cherokee for the summer wheeled the hell out of it and my doors never fit the same again. Being that the jeep is unibody everything twists when you get flexed out while wheeling. As for the mirrors I pulled some off a wrangler and eliminated the ones that were actually on the door. It worked great. I recommend stiffening the frame before taking off the doors though.

When everyone says the doors will sag, does this mean you have to lift them up a little bit to close them or will they still close fine?
