Hey guys I'm new here but I have a 1989 jeep Cherokee custom and when I got it it needed a head gasket and the bindix 9 brake system change so I did both and it always idled rough and would turn off a stop lights and then it would start back up No problem then a week ago I was going through a holler and it started studderimg and trying to shut down and I barley got it home then I could turn it off and start it up and it would be fine for another 5 minutes or so then same thing then it started rattling and vibrating really bad when it would start and sometimes it wouldn't start at all them yesterday I went to go clean connectors and try a few things and it wouldn't start at all with no fire I've already changed plugs wires distributor cap and rotor isk what to do it seems like a money pit and I'm only 18 so my job don't do much so I can't just throw sensors at it like I'd like to I could use any help asap my moms sick of driving me to work XD

By no fire you mean spark or starting please clarify ? No spark could be as easy as crank sensor no fuel could be loose connection at ballast resistor on drivers fender well.

No spark to the plugs I'm thinking of replacing the coil but I could use suggestions from people that know about jeeps I've only done work to fords and Chevys

Your most common issue with no spark is crank sensor try unpluging it and pluging it back in also check wiring while there..Ill post a pic it on rear drive side back of head. All cars are same just ****s in different spot...Sorry mom thing break down there plenty off good help here to assist

I've tried it lol but thanks man I'll look into a new crank sensor and I'll look into that link for my new addiction 😂 thank you I'll update when I get the money up to replace it

Okay I replaced the cpu And it started running again and I can drive it but is still idled really rough and shuts off at stop lights unless I put it in neutral and push the gas a little bit after around 30 minutes of driving it stutters and loses power I can turn it off and back on and then it's fine for about 5 minutes I'm kind of stumped I just kept doing that all the way home today and it's pretty annoying pulling over every few minutes lol I could use opinions
