hello everyone,
i have Jeep cherokee 2001 , inline 6cy.
I was having problem with the injectors wiring , replaced the wiring and started the car, everything was fine till start having high engine RPM when the car is not moving.
if engaged the gear on Drive the RPM still high ( 1000 ) when i release the brake and the car starts moving the RPMs drops to normal.
don't know what could be the reason? i could not understand the relation between the speed and the engine idle .
again ,, when the speed meter reads any move forward or backward the RPM drops to normal..
please help..

1000 RPM .

IAC clean it, see if that helps.

did change the IAC , TPS , cleaned the throttle body, nothing changed !
it has something to do with the wiring that goes to the transmission i think !
but checked all the pins .
the new wiring i installed was used ones , was removed from the same model of my Jeep !.

Check for a vacuum leak?
What happened to the old wiring rodents?
Did you fiddle around with the injectors when you replaced the wiring?

the problem started with injector #3 not working, check engine light blinking .
after trouble shooting found out that the wiring for the injector #3 was touching each other .
had to replace the whole wiring.
there is no vacuum .
I realized that the IAC is not closing the port properly ! tried to close the port which passes the air through the IAC with my fingers and I can notice the RPM drops down .

nightmare !
