Default Front Driveshaft

I was just wondering if the front drive shaft was supposed to rotate when in 2wd on a 89 Cherokee? And if its not supposed to, how do i fix it?

If you are driving it will always rotate even if only in 2wd as it is connected to your diff. If you jack all 4 wheels off the ground and put it in gear, only the rear should turn. If the front is as well, your transfer case is not disengaging and it could be your linkage.
