Electric Fan doesn't come on
My electric fan doesn't come on anymore. It use to when I first got it, but ever since I had the radiator fixed it doesn't come on. Where is the sensor that turns it on. Or what turns on the fan??

The problem is you had your rad dune and didn't do it your self. Is the fan even plugged in? Never never trust a shop. All you would have needed was a Phillips 10 and 8 mm. So will you fix this your self or are you just giving your mechanic some ideas. What ever so if your fan is plugged in and it dose not work use a test light when it should be on (over or around 210) and see if it has power. If it dose you need a new fan (junk yard). If it dose not check the fuse. You will never learn without getting your hands dirty! The money you spend at a shop should be spent on tools!

My compressor doesn't work, will it still turn on when I turn on the A/C?? Connected a wire that runs from the radiator to a socket near the lights, but still no fan. I ran a wire direct and the fan works. What triggers the fan to start?? Maybe it has a bad ground I need to clean? Looked under the dash and found no fuses that say fan. Mine is an 89 Jeep XJ with a 4.0. Stinking Radiator Shop. Hope they didn't mess something up. Next time I will do it myself.

just a thought maybe it only came on because you were overheating perhaps your new rad is keeping you a bit cooler and there is no need for the fan to come on it is only there to cool ac and deal with overheating shouldnt come on if all is good

as stated, get out a test light.
better yet, remove the relay (front left corner of engine bay on renix, and IIRC in fuse box on H.O.) and use a multimeter to test continuity to the positive wire going to the fan. if there's continuity there, try swapping the relay and replacing the fuse (if there is one...I can't recall).
from there, check the ground (driver's front of engine bay) to see if it's even screwed in. also check your ECU temp sensors and verify that they are plugged in. temp. sensor for renix is on the radiator driver's side, H.O. is on the t-stat housing.
renix temp. sensor and e-fan connectors are the same. so it is possible that the mechanic hooked up the wrong ones..in which case your fan won't come on.

Mine didnt work for one reason or another so I ran a switch wth two wires to the fan relay that is on the driver side fender under the hood. Ran the wires through the hood release cable hole in the firewall and attached the manual switch to the kick panel. If it gets too hot I simply turn the fan on. Wallah!!! problem solved.

I had the same problem
The way I fixed mine was I checked to see if the temperature sensor in the t-stat housing was contacting the other side of the coolant passage, it was, so I backed it out and re-installed it with about 1/4 of an inch clearance. I cleaned the connector and the relay, and it works now

mine stopped working on a pretty hairy trail run last sunday, cause the group was hung up on some obstacles up ahead (I was parked idling)!!! So I did what any mad scientist would do rip the horn wire out to run a constant power to the fan! Once I got it home I ran a toggle switch to the fan & reran the wires to the horn!!!
