Default Ac clutch went out on 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport

First post here. I had the ac clutch on my compressor blow. The coil melted, bearings loose, etc... The compressor shaft spins freely with no hesitation or binding and the ac system was working like a champ before the clutch gave out. I bought a new compressor online and need to get it installed. I took the car to the shop to get the refrigerant removed so its empty.

I need to know how much pag oil to put in the new compressor without flushing the system or replacing components that are in working order. Any help or advice is appreciated!

The FSM says to drain the oil out of the old compressor in to a container. Measure how much was removed. Drain the new compressor and add the same amount as removed from the old compressor.

Shouldn't be much. The entire system only holds 6.1 ounces.

Use PAG100 oil

Okay I drained the old one and like 2 ounces came out but some sprayed out when I opened it up so I put in 3. The new compressor said it came with 6.1 ounces but I could only get about 3 ounces out of it even though I turned the clutch assembly multiple times with it tipped into a measuring cup. Suggestions?

I think 3 ounces is about all you get out of it.

The entire 2000/2001 system holds 6.1 ounces, not jut the compressor.

Go by what you got out of the old compressor.
