I have a 99 with a 4.5 rough country lift, it had a rusty's adjustable trac bar on the rig when I bought it. The threads are shot and it couldnt be adjusted, some how they cross threaded it and its junk. So I got a rough country bar for a 4-6" lift to get the axle back under center. After installing it, I have no adjustment remaining and the axle is still 2" farther to the passenger side. I have a couple of ideas that I am going to look at; possibly use the rustys mount and rough country bar, or look at drilling a new mounting hole in the rustys frame rail mount. Before I did either of those I thought I look for a couple of ideas.

 

My rough country bar was too long also, seems that when they went to the double sheer bracket they did not shorten the trackbar like they should have for use with the 4.5" kit. I ended up leaving out the jam nut on the adjustable side and tightened it down with out and and that was about perfect.

 

I dont think that is going to allow me enough adjustment room to get the axle under center. I am going to look at the possibility of combining some of the components from both bars that I have. Either that or seeing if I can shorten the RC bar with out loosing strength. The RC mounting bracket is much larger than the rustys, it has got to be 2-3" taller. Thats what has me hoping that I can make the combo work.

Personally I would give them a call, tell them about the issue and see if they will send you a new trackbar because the one advertised does not fit their description. I hear good things about the customer service so they should be able to help you out.

 

Just an update, removing the RC mount and replacing it with the original rustys allowed for enough adjustment and the axle is now centered perfectly for the first time since I have owned it.

 

Im surprised you had these problems because I have now installed two 4.5" lifts with RC and the track bars they supplied were dead on when I got them alligned. I had inches of play both ways after allignment...

You can align it yourself, all you need is a jack, tape measure, and correct wrench to loosen tie rod nuts.
