Default Split the for sale section

How about putting a "for sale" section in the regions instead of all together.

I've actually thought about that myself. Lets see what the other staff and users opinions are.

I agree would make it simple and easy for us to post wanted/forsale stuff for our neighboring states

I think that's a great idea. Better chance of doing local pick ups that way.

This is my thought, You could make tags for the post titles. I know VB can do it.

Then you could put the regions like that. or Nationwide for venders

It all boils down to maintaining. Something we have to consider when we add new areas is how or who will be maintaining it. We also have to remember all the staff here are vounteers.

I don't for see a seperate for sale area for each region atm. In the future maybe.

I think you guys should make it a requirement for you to post the STATE in the TITLE of the thread that you're selling your parts from. That should narrow down searches by a lot. I've seen this on other forums and makes it easier for me to scan for parts.

For example - FS[NY]: XJ...Blah Blah Blah

Now thats a good idea if a regional FS is a ways out. That will help.

We attempted this at one point and it became a nightmare to deal with. Members did not follow the directions and when we attempted to force the issue we received back lash. It basically became more hassle then it was really worth.

Until we have a way that will force it to be entered before posting we can't logically enforce it without much headache.

There are 162 pages of stuff for sale. There is not enough time to go through it all. Break it up into complete rigs for sale, Engine, transmission, suspension and chasey. Unless you guess the precise verbiage in a post you'll never find what you're looking for. Once you can find what you're looking for the rest will take care of it's self.

My offer to oversee a section still stands. I've been staffing and running forums since the old dialup days where we had to write our own code.

Wouldn't be too hard. You would use the feature in the admin panel to create the prefixes, and modify the forums code so that anytime a post is made in that specific section it verifies the user specified a prefix for location other then the default of "Please choose".

It would be easily done you just add a check to the code that verifies that a title has been entered and only for those/that section. In fact, I'll code it for you if you wish. vBulletin is pretty simple.

This effectively creates the region tag in the title as mandatory.
