Default Popping sound comming from under my rig

I have a 94 Cherokee with a 242 transfercase and an auto trans. When I lock it into 4wd and put it in a bind I am having a loud popping sound coming from under it I cant tell if it is coming from the transfer case or could it be bad u joints?

Take a look at ur exost down pipe! It sounds like the same problem I had where the front most drive line u joint knuckle is beats against the exost down pipe! If so get an adjustable track bar!

I have a similar problem with my 92. Turns out the drag link bolts were loose and needed an extra tug to tighten things up. The popping went away.

A few weeks ago the noise returned so I pulled the bolts and found that the mounting holes were elongated. When the weather gets better I'll fire up the welder and make some new holes.

I checked all those and everything seems good. I noticed that if I have it in 4lo and put it in a bind or put one foot on the brake and gas it pops. Could my transfer case be the problem. It does not do it in 2wd. Thanks

I checked the front end, gears, axles,u joints but I am still getting the noise. A friend was looking at it while I was trying to get it to pop and he said the front driveshaft jerks when it makes the noise. Could my chain in the Transfer case be slipping?

By "in a bind" do you mean turning the wheel to full lock?

my cousin's 89 did the same thing as you are describing and it was his tcase. Only did it in 4hi or 4lo but not in 2hi. His tcase eventually locked up and had to replace it so if you can you might want to have your tcase checked out (unless you're like me and have been inside a tcase b4 and know how to take it apart and where to look for excessive wear). May not be your tcase just thought I'd let ya know my cousin's did the same thing and it was his tcase. Hope it helps. If you're pretty handy with a wrench and feel confident in checking the tcase yourself I have a link that shows how to take one apart.

Not when I turn it but just when it is not on flat ground(when I put it under a load)
