Having issues getting a new Start/Stop Button to work in my 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland. I've Purchased 3-4 different "New" Buttons and after installing them into dash and try an start The Jeep, I get Damaged Key Message. What am I missing ? From everything I've read, As long as FOB has good battery and is programmed for that jeep it should work but i seem to strike out every time. Does anyone have information That could guide me in right direction ? I am able to start jeep with FOB inserted into button slot without a problem.

 

The issue isn't the button itself, it's the RFID antenna ring inside it. When you use cheap aftermarket buttons, that antenna isn't talking to your fob correctly. Take your original broken button, carefully pop it open, and swap just the circuit board with the antenna into one of the new housings. That'll fix it.

 

The original button is not physically damaged. So if the original button isn't working that would indicate the original circuit bd is probably bad. Swapping circuit bd into new button isn't going to fix it
