I'm thinking that the IAT gets carbon all over it and sends a poor signal. Perhaps cleaning versus replacement is a viable option?
Not specifically Jeep, but about anything, if its working I'm hesitatent to toss it and replace it with something manufactured lately. Even name brands get dodgy where they are from sometimes. My.o2 anyway.
I need to confess though, I might have well over 100K on my water pump, I might toss it while its still working!
I wanna hear the readings people getting 20 mpg are getting. Idk when I'll get to that ECT. Hey, I did put propane in my AC today, seems to work.
Pick a name yet? Dawn is a nice name!
I used to get 20town and 26 highway in my 87 XJ I had when I first started driving. So 19.5mpg when the gas blends these days I won't be complaining about.
What exactly does propane in the AC do? I saw something about that a while ago but never read into it. Mine blows really cold as it is so its not something I'll need to do for a while.
We actually named her Holly, I saw the name several months ago and that's what we decided on. Is your name Dawn by chance?

Agreed ^there^. I'd like to get back there myself. Idk. with 300K right around the corner... (265k)
Oh, propane is just a shade tree way to save a buck, maybe! If I didn't get enough of the right oil in there and melt my AC compressor, I might not end up saving much. Handling liquid propane under pressure isn't something I would recommend. Plus the mircaption odorant they put in there is one and the same molecule that rotting meat gives off. Besides the stink, it attracts flies! I just have a "tinkering problem". Maybe there is a group for that! "Hello, my name is Donald and I am a "tinkerholic"
Holly! Pretty name. Actually my last lady friend was named Holly. Be sure to provide her plenty of Vodka in the AM, or she might get grumpy!
Congratulations! Now, there has to be a car seat forum somewhere....
Thought you all might enjoy this... This zip file contains about 50 or so photos from the 88 Chrysler service manual for a few models. Mostly pinouts and circuit diagrams are included pertaining to ignition.
I came across an 88 Jeep factory service manual. I take about 50 photos of the pinouts circuit diagrams troubleshooting guides etc and put them in a zip folder... Please post if you guys want anything else.

When I took off my coil I noticed that there is a spade connector on it in the middle, but it wasn't hooked up to anything, is there a wire that's supposed to be connected there? I've got one (forgot what color of wire it is) wire that looks like it should go there, anyone have any input on this?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Holy batman this thread is old! In fact, it was started right before my oldest daughter was born and she turns 13 in may! I sold my 88 XJ in 2018 as we outgrew it, but I still have my eye out for another one for my daughter to drive around and dump all her money into.
