Default Lift, Wheel, tires -New Member, New 2000 Cherokee,

Hey folks, new to this forum! Already reading lots of good stuff! I have a question, as you can see in the picture, my new (to me) 2000 Cherokee Sport needs some help on the lift, tire and wheel combo. I've spent the time since buying it on fixing some mechanicals, brakes, flushes, fluid changes and generally improving its reliability. Now I'm ready work on the my favoroite parts. This will never be a serious offroader, It's more a tent-camping-cruiser-towing-a-bass-boat-on-weekends-in-East-Texas-getting-groceries-during-the-week type of vibe......can't go to aggressive but I want a mild lift (need to get in the garage) and chunky wheels and tires to fill those gaping wheel wells. Looking for some sugestions on wheel size and tire that would work well with a mild 1.5" - 2' lift. Want them tucked under the feder flares, not beyond. Any suggestions on wheel size; and tire size from you guys would be most appreciated to help get me started. It's completely stock with painted steel wheels at this point.

Beautiful jeep, definitely want some new springs, lots of people have used Old Man Emu springs for an small amount if lift (lots threads have the specific part numbers needed).
30-31" tires are fine on stock gears though I've never towed with a jeep, a nice set of 235/75/15s can get you through a lot of really rough trails/dirt roads no problem. I found that after even a moderate amount of lift my tie rods and track bar were very unhappy and started experiencing death wobble, new parts and a proper alignment solved the issue though.

If you don’t want to be upgrading steering components and brace your steering box, I’d keep the lift under 2inches and 30 inch tires tops. Basically an up country package.

I’ve been running 31s on stock gearing for about two years. It does fine, but struggles finding gears on the highway at 60-70. I manually downshift to 3 on hills and get by.

And 31s on a 4.5 inch lift have gotten me a lot of places. You’d need a minimum of 3 inch lift to clear 31s without having to butcher your fenders.

Bigger tires mean less towing ability, unless you regear. If it is a tow vehicle, beware of the urge to go big on tire unless you regear. Research this subject well before you jump, you may not like the result.
