Don't worry about it, that guy's XJ won't need 4x4 for a while! hahaha my dad had one from my sister's ZJ he sold a couple years ago. Not sure on the length but it's free so might work for when I put the SYE in.
Yeah, that sucks. It won't fill in holes, but will work if there's still enough material there to sand down even, then apply the resolene.
I will have to peel the cover off and look at it again. Still need to get some resolene for the other Jeeps steering wheel. Pretty sure I can save that one still. Although, I do like the look of the GC wheel a lot better.
Currently kicking myself for not doing the rear main seal while I had the oil pan dropped. I'm positive it's never been replaced on my rig, but I must have finally found a project I am not excited to tackle...
But I digress. Pretty sure I dicked up the order of the bolts on the pan, and I have a small leak that I will have to address tomorrow before I go to work. Pretty sure there are NOT supposed to be parts left over after this one.
After searching this forum I have discovered I have left off the "oil pan support" thing, which looks like a thin piece of metal used to further secure the bolts near the transmission housing in the rear of the pan. Time to get back under the Jeep...
Well, i got up super early to take the jeep out for some wheeling while its still cool.
Turned the key... "click click POP!"
Well now, thats doesnt sound right. Slid under it for a peek...
Lol, the solenoid ejected itself from the body of the starter. Found the plunger lying in the driveway.
So there went plan. Waited for the parts store to open to get another starter. Swapped it out, made sure everything was working. By then the TX heat was kicking in, so i left her at home and went to run my errands.
Whoa Twisted
Broken down at Start of day, in driveway.
That never happens.
Actually a lucky day.
Buy a lottery ticket!
Broken anywhere else would have been a horror story.

Lol, no kidding. Where i was planning to go... That would have been a long miserable walk back to a main road, get a ride to a parts store, then another long walk carrying a starter.
I'll take the driveway breakdown with my other car parked 10 feet away. Any day!
So I managed to get a few things done. Did a coolant pressure test. Little oozing out of the back bottom of the thermostat housing and some wanting to come out of the lower radiator hose on the engine side. Pressure on the cap was OK. Thinking new thermostat gasket, going to go with a Felpro one, probably buy a new radiator cap, and maybe a new radiator hose clamp. Works out good cause I have not gotten around to swapping out my anti-freeze yet. Also did a compression test.
Results from the compression test.
Warm. About a 140 degrees on my temp gauge.

All my plugs looked good. Regapped 3 of them a little. I pulled both the ASD and Fuel Pump Relays. When I put it all back together and started it up I got a CEL. Quick look with the scanner showed it to be a P1389. No ASD Relay Output Voltage. My buddy was hanging out with me and Googled it real quick. So he is seeing posts about people having the P1389 and the Jeep not running. He's like but it is running. I thought it was funny. Maybe you had to be there.
Also did a block test. Sucked some anti-freeze out, started the Jeep, and let it warm to operating temperature. Looked good. Then wanting to do it at a very hot idle did it again after letting the Jeep idle for about an hour. Still looked good. See the shot below. Then my buddy had the bright idea of putting it right next to the tailpipe and squeeze the bulb. See the last shot. LOL.

Breaking down in the summer is miserable. One time I blew up my throw out bearing in the middle of nowhere, with temperatures nearing 98*F in Florida (humid as ****). Took the tow truck like 2 hours to make it out to me, damn that was super miserable.
Car didn't have working A/C anyways, so I ended up basically taking a nap under a tree, LOL
Last February, my YJ threw the front driveshaft and destroyed half of my driveline (including my oil pan so I couldn't run the heat). I had no back windows in it, and it was 17° and snowing. Took the tow truck driver just shy of 3 hours to arrive, even after I told them I was exposed to the weather, despite being only 15 minutes outside of Washington D.C.
