Rust!!!!!! Grinding off some mess on the top corner revealed a troubling hole in a very bad spot.
This jb weld stuff actually seems like it’ll hold. I put down some wire mesh and smeared on the epoxy. Fingers crossed right?
and yes the old girl is still running just fine, been quiet on this site for a while as spring/summer time is jeep time.

Got the new gauge cluster in. So no more idiot lights (woo hoo!)
Everything works, is reading really good oil pressure, and temp is dead on where it should be.... that's a relief. Volts are good too.
Simple and easy upgrade, and sooo worth it.
Now just to get the new cluster's mileage re-calibrated to my actual mileage. New cluster has 238k on the clock, and my XJ only has 90k original miles. I thought she looked pretty good for 90k, but wow... looks really good for 238k. lol.

Passed smog! Now it can be registered.
Only downside is now that only emissions are required in Utah, they upcharge that to make up the difference of not getting that sweet safety inspection fee.

Put the new fender and header panel on. Can see how much the rest of the paint has faded out in 17 years. Will finish everything up today.

Killed my Comanche. Got home from work and my dad wanted to grab some dinner so I figured what the heck I'll drive the Comanche it's been sitting for a while. Drove fine all the way there. On the way back I noticed the oil pressure was a little lower than normal and there was a large plume of blueish smoke following my truck. Got home and it was smoking like crazy and I checked the oil level and it was a little over the fill line. Topped it off and started it again and the oil gauge didn't even move.
