Last week! It was plus shipping but still... whatever the black body shocks I have on it now suck. Way too stiff for a bone stock Jeep.

If your black ones are JK shocks and are too stiff I doubt you'll want red ones then.

Paid $93 to my door for red ones. First ones I'd seen for a while so I bought them. Best deal I've seen lately were $90 shipped for I believe red ones with ~ 50miles on them. SteveMongr's been posting e-bay links on red ones.

Me to. After running these red ones for a bit now I know the Monomax were overkill for me.

sensa-tracs were harsher than the reds.

Maybe some don't take into consideration the light weight of these XJ's when making a choice in shocks? I know I didn't.

My black ones part #s end in 25AC & 55AC. I believe that they are older JK/Saharas. The black ones are suppose to have a softer ride. I read that for a time they came with black or red ? I'd like to know the part numbers on your black ones. I'm gonna go ahead and get a pair of the reds to have on hand if the blacks turn to mush.

I'm betting the black ones give a decent ride and would last a long time unless used under abnormal conditions. The red ones were designed for use in more harsh situations BUT also give an acceptable ride to boot.

Get a set of red ones. For the price they can't be beat and if at some point you decide not to use them you'd have no trouble selling them I'm sure.

Black = Sahara (and one or two other trim levels)
Red = Rubicon

I bought a set of the JK Unlimited Rubicon, which is a considerably heavier vehicle than the XJ, but I bet they're still not as stiff as the Bilstein 5100s.

Sorry, should have clarified. The black shocks I have are not off a JK. I think they are Monroe sensa-tracs. Ill have to poke my head under there tonight to verify.

Shocks have an OE Spectrum sticker on them.

I called a local suspension/lift shop and asked what they do with all the shocks they take off. They said they're all in a pile in back. $10 each if I want to come pick thru em. said they have a huge pile. YMMV
