Been reading threads here and there and havent found much on what im after. Where is the part number (example: 52000051) stamped into the leaf, if at all? If its under the pad it will have to wait as my plate is a bit full right now (leaves are still on the vehicle). All i found so far were the numbers RPN706AB 1717. I thought i read on the forums here somewhere that said AB is standard duty, and AA is heavy duty. If thats the case ok, mine are standard duty, which according to Quadratec is part #52000051 which makes the location of the part number irrelevant (just knowing its a standard duty is enough for me). But i am still curious about the RPN706. Is that just a call out for "Cherokee XJ", meaning XJ specific? What are the last 4 numbers...build date? Also, there appears to be a faint trace of a white stripe next to the number on both leaves. Any significance? Check mark for quality control? Or color coded for load rating???
I'm looking forward to the day when someone tries out all of those General springs and posts details about lift heights, ride impressions, etc. They look like a great product.
Checked them out a while back. Supposedly the General HD spring has a 7" arch. That should put it in the same category as the Dorman and Crown as far as lift goes. I'd call first. Ad says bushings included but they don't look to be installed in the ad.
I read the part number is near the eyes of the main leaf. I just looked and found nothing. Nothing on top and nothing on the bottom. Either the rust took it off or the number was never there to begin with. Was it stamped onto the part, or cast into it? NAXJA lists a "ZFU/ZUU 52000-706AB Standard Duty coded LN, ES,6-5/8" free arch". Does that 52000-706AB correspond to the RPN706AB on mine, or is that just a coincidence? So far, all i have found is mention of that same RPN706AB.
Id really like to know what the factory spring rate for mine were.
To add even more confusion (see the list on NAXJA):
Dealer part # 52000051 Standard Duty, Coded LC, EC
Also posted on NAXJA (the same list even):
84/01 Standard Duty (LL ) 4 leaf - Jeep P/N 52000051
The LC, EC becomes LL. ?
Looking back at the dealer part #, LL is for a "52000545 Heavy Duty, Coded LL, EL"
LL becomes Heavy Duty, not Standard Duty. ?!?!?!
This discrepancy came up on NAXJA, but was never acknowledged. There are other discrepancies in that same list. I am completely baffled right now.
I would check the build sheet. It should give the code for which springs were used.
As far as the general springs I've been thinking of buying some but the only concern I have is that their heavy duty springs have a load rating of 755 which is the same as the upcountry springs were rated. Thier next lowest rating ones are 625. I don't want the lift of the upcountry springs and I'm not sure if 625 is heavy enough for the tow package. I actually have the build sheet that came with my 01 so I'll have to check it and see what springs are listed.
Best to call them I guess. I'm assuming the lightest ones are for 2wd, the middle for 4wd and the HD for upcountry.
Also I have noticed that Crown's part numbers correlate with the factory numbers so maybe some research into the load ratings of thier springs in relation to the part number could help.

I dont have the build sheet.
Found this. Is this legit? I know its not for finding the load, but i still interesting.
I tried the leaf spring equation just for giggles using the example given to make sure i did it right, but i keep ending up with a totally different spring rate. I assume that 3 after the 2nd part of the equation means "cubed"? Not sure what that is on my calculator as i lost the booklet. There is a x2, 10n, 1/x and a yx button.

Yes, that means cubed. You don't need a button, you just take the number to be cubed and multiply it by itself twice.

In other words, n cubed = n × n × n.
I should know that, but didnt sink in for whatever reason. Getting old sucks. The example shown works out to 145.68 (146lbs.). Now for my 97. The leaves have started to frown. Because of this the length might be a little off, but this atleast gives me something to start with.
(2.50 x 4 ÷ 12 = 0.833) x (1000 x 0.25 ÷ 51.625) = 4.842
4.842 x4.842 x 4.842 = 113.52
0.833 x 113.52 = 94.56 (95lbs/in.)
I dont have the spring rates for any other spring besides Crown 56010.12.07 (OEM part # 52000051), which is 92.38lbs/in. with a free arch of 6 1/4". NAXJA says the load rating for that particular part # is 405, with a free arch of 3 1/8". Those two free arch measurements arent even close. For what its worth, mine are sitting at 2 3/4" on the driver side, and 2 1/2" on the passenger side. But thats with the suspension loaded as i have not taken them off yet. Any guesses as to what the free arch might be once i pull them? That might not be for a couple months. For those that have bought that particular leaf (Crown 56010.12.07), what was the free arch measurement?
Going thru some paperwork i came across a spring tag i pulled from my 97 a while back. Forgot i even had it. It reads "FJ 5200 1118". I found this:
Thought maybe i could figure out what the rears might be by knowing what the fronts are. I came across an old thread here where a poster got a build sheet for his 97 that said "Normal Duty Suspension code... 'ZFJ','ZFU','ZUJ','ZUU', for front/rear/left/right". If the wording confuses anyone else like it did me at first, thats ZFJ front left, ZUJ right front, and ZFU/ZUU for the rear. NAXJA shows the rear as ZUU/ZFU (part # 52000706AB), with a free arch of 6 5/8". I keep seeing the code LN, which everybody seems to agree with, but no body shows the load rating for. Not even the dealer knew what it was, and they even show it as being LN. All i keep running into is this:
Anybody here know the load rating for LN? Even without that info, 52000706AB looks to be what my 97 may have been built with seeing as i found another 97 with the same coils/codes up front. Makes sense to me that it would share the same leaves/codes out back. Seems logical.
