/This past weekend/ I finally got around to installing my Rusty's HD Crossover Steering conversion.
Steering is much more responsive and there's absolutely ZERO slop in the wheel anymore. There's no drag link roll or bump steer either. Very happy and very impressed. I will say though, you really have to hulk down on the castle nuts to have enough room to insert the cotter pins.

Ugly
Pop the emblem off, hit it with wet 1500, then a bit of clear.
I'm changing the interior to black, so dye the pad, glue the emblem back on, much better!
Thanks for that little writeup. Gonna do this to mine now
Final reassembly on the rear d44. Tomorrow the wheel bearings & seals will be arriving. I ll have them pressed on the shafts by Friday & pop on the axle.
Interesting. I had the same issue when I put new coils & springs on, at the exact same speed--actually in a range from about 53-56MPH. Mine improved after a re-balancing, then improved more when I bought new tires. It's still there just slightly, but you would have to point it out to most people.
At this point I wouldn't worry about it--adding height definitely will throw off your alignment.
Got the BFG KO2s installed today and an alignment done. 55mph front end shimmy is gone These are 245/65r17, seems a perfect size for the 2” lift and my 17” rims.
as for what I did to mine today... well I felt like using some profanity at it, but knew that wouldn't help. lol. Guess I've gotta screw with it this weekend to try and have it running for Monday morning, as it's my DD right now.
don't get me wrong.. love my XJ...but right now she's just messin' with my Zen thing. lol.
Replaced the trackbar, fixed interior door latches, tail light terminal, cleaned a couple grounds under the hood, and noticed my axle joints were shot while doin my track bar, started gathering materials for floor pan patches

Can’t wait to get it in the dirt/sand!
Damn, that's a sweet rig. Sometimes it's the simple things that are better.
Shocks are finished, now to see how it rides after removing to RC ones. Today changing out the front brake hoses to the longer braided stainless ones. Then have to wash it and get it ready for 4 Wheel parts grand opening tomorrow.
Took the XJ out for a ride in the first nice weather we've had this year. With sunny skies and temperature in the mid-80s I was happy to find the AC system is blowing ice cold air. We'll see how it does during the hot humid summer, but this is a promising start.
I'm hearing a squeaking noise from somewhere at engine idle but I think it's something underneath rather than any engine accessories. I can sometimes hear the noise with the engine off when getting out and closing the door. Good weather always brings crawling under the Jeep along with it!
