Default Flush mount LEDs

I’m working on solving the problem of the ugly extra brake lights the po installed on my back hatch and have decided to just replace them with a set of clear lense LEDs wired to a switch so I can use them while in the woods or hooking up to a trailer at night but can’t find anything that’ll be big enough to cover the existing mounting holes. Anybody know where I can get some that measure close to 6” including the trim?

I was was looking for something like these round ones only larger

Any chance you can disassemble the existing light, basically just keeping the outer metal ring? Replace the red lens with a piece of clear Plexiglas, cut with a hole saw out of a sheet you can get at your big box home improvement store. Then mount a light similar to what you found that will fit behind your new clear lens. Not sure how much room is there. Maybe you can use the existing housing or if not fabricate a bracket to mount the new LED light. An advantage is that it would be better isolated from water intgrusion, which seems to be an issue with some inexpensive LED lights. It might be more work than it is worth.

I would do that but the things are hideous so I would like to eliminate all of it.

Yes. That guy should not have been given access to anything that would cut metal/fiberglass.

Yeah I think you’re right. I might try to use the existing trim. I can sand it down and paint it, change the hardware and lenses and throw in some LEDs.

That trailer plug bracket is as ugly as those lights are.I would just replace the hatch and be gone with them lights.
