Oh man... That's what fascinates me about anthropology. There are some incredible things early man really did do and were capable of doing!

Something about where it is on the horizon and how the sun's angle is shining on it?

Holy cow! See we have mountains in the way so we hardly get to see it that low on the horizon with the atmosphere enlarging that much. That's incredible!

Seeing things like this can help make it understandable why early cultures revered the moon as they did.

Yeah, well ya know, I was gonna take a picture of the Moon as cool as that. But the dog ate my camera, then there was a dust storm, then the Storm Troopers raided my village. Stuff got in the way.

Hey, know what? I will bet that you could get one hell of a shot of the eclipse over the superstitions on the night of the 31st! Your lookout might just be the best place in the valley to check it out!

It's on my to-do list for sure. It just sucks that my expensive camera broke years ago and I never replaced it since cell phones can take most pictures. But my current phone, while it takes excellent pics during the day, takes absolutely horrible pics at night, unless they are close up pics. I Googled ways to fix this and came up with nothing. It has to do with the focus mechanism being so precise that it literally focuses on dust particles in the nearby air and won't make the Moon in focus. And this phone does not have manual settings. I used to be a professional photographer so trust me, if it had manual settings I could get the shot. But it doesn't.

Oh man, Mine does funny things like that too. I don't know why but the first shot of something is always blurry, then the second shot of the exact same thing refocuses clear as crystal.

I did professional photography several moons ago.... even learned from Ansel Adams' protégé. Basically the only person he ever taught his methods to.
