Hey, I just want to thank you for all suggestions. As soon as I get the OEM replacement switch, I will track wiring under the "air box" for corrosion. Then replace switch. The harness and upgrade will have to be done in a couple of months. If original lasts this long the OEM fix can last at least 3 months.
Thanks again.
Hey Dumajones, Thanks! Alaska! I guess you would know what works in extreme environments! Thanks for "pic's." Explains what I knew, now you made me sure.
Hey PC06, Yah, here in Southern Ontario were getting what we expect every year! I will take all advice under advisement! First I will get them (headlights) to OEM, make sure all is right and like you upgrade.
Hey IJM, Thanks for reply - everybody are on the same page. I guess I been fortunate all these years (18 years) with XJ headlights. Will post difference when upgrade is complete.

same here... would be nice to see the difference before doing the upgrade on mine too.
will be watching for it....
Here is a pic showing stock headlights and wiring on the left, upgrade on right.
If I remember correctly stock bulbs in all four pics.
Harness upgrade only.
(Putco harness is just a brand of upgraded harness).

I didn't think to do it when I did mine, but pictures don't really do it justice. It's really a striking difference. What I noticed was the very good and controlled low-beam pattern that put a lot more light out front and to the sides with a nice sharp cutoff. The high beams are very bright now as well with a better pattern.
