Lights behind AC/Head control and rear wiper button lights

Lights behind AC/Head control and rear wiper button lights
Hi, i tried the search but couldnt come up with any results that helped me. Is there supposed to be a light(s) behind the ac/heater controls? I have to turn my interior lights on at night to be able to see what im turning on or off. It seems like there should be lights behind them but im not sure. Its an 88' Jeep cherokee laredo 4.0 4x4 all power everything

On my 95 and 96 XJ's there is one light IN the Heat/AC controller.
It is located on the rear of the controller portion with the sliders, passenger side.
Chances are the bulb is burnt out -OR- the little tabs that hold the socket in place are broken and it has fallen out.
My 95 is working and lights up, good because the wife drives that from time to time.
My 96 doesn't work, but I have learned to do it blindly.
Bottom lever to the passenger side for heat.
Top lever to the right for DEFROST - one notch back for HEAT - one notch back from that one to VENT ....one more back and you are in the AC " Bi-Level " position.
