Been a lurker reading for awhile and got tired of driving a Chevy so went on the hunt for a Jeep. Looked at a couple but came across this 97 with 440,000km on it with a 8.25 rear and for the price decided to grab it.
It is a bit weird going from something fullsize like a truck to this little Jeep lol. SOOOO tiny...
Welcome to the forum and to the Jeep family.....
I think of them as kind of like a somewhat compact stomper. Does yours have the I6? and just for your knowledge, that one's an XJ....I think the older SJ's are cool as "bleep".... part of the FSJ clan but harder to find in good shape, and low mileage ones in good shape are really starting to skyrocket in value lately for some odd reason.
Here's one...a Grand Wagoneer.. which I hear they are trying to bring back around the 2020 model year if it doesn't get blocked.

Yup 4.0 engine. Needs a few new seals as oil is leaking out and front wheel bearings but all minor stuff.
Everyone wants a small fortune for any Jeeps where I am. A guy with a 2 door 5 speed was asking 2200 CAD and it had more holes in the roof than a cheese grater.
I will be doing stuff but it will be slow. Probably doing rear discs then move onto lifting it. Found a used set of 3" leafs for $100

But they handle like a sports car on the highway, go just about anywhere you point it, and pull a fully loaded car trailer better than one would think.

Yeah I immediately noticed how quick and responsive the steering is.
