If the amount of work references the interior, please follow my dash rebuild page. That was all me. The rhino lining sucks, but I am on the fence. Do I just use another truck liner on top of it, or do I remove (somehow) and redo the whole thing... I don't know yet the full extent of my build plans, but for now it's a DD. Ideally it will remain a DD, but my mods definitely take it into the realm of dedicated crawler. Let's say I want to be able to drive it to the trails legally.
there is a shop near me that does role cages but I am wanting an interior cage. I have some up-my-sleeve mods I am planning that will make for a difficult exterior cage.

Okay I did not see the dash rebuild you have this broken up in different build pages? That being the case I will move back to the top and start over lol. Yea that bedliner looks horrible the Jeep itself overall don't look bad but the interior is in need of overhauling. Seems like you have that tackled and working on that. Can the bedliner be removed? Sure I suppose it could with some long hours of sanding it down but man I would think that be a lot of work. Still it is a XJ and I like it and will follow!

2" thick wall square tubing would be easier to work with and twice as strong as that I would think.

Why not? A nice radial arm saw with a metal cut off blade will make perfect cuts in square tubing when you will have to jump through the hoops to do round tubing. All you have to do is be smarter than the tubing and make the correct angle cuts before you "fold the last flat" and weld. Mating square is much easier than round, and it is stronger in a smaller profile size.
Wound aerodynamics be the problem? Aesthetics? why not?

This is why I support your roll cage idea! lol
VERY NOT HAPPY about how easy it CRUNCHED considering the circumstances and experience.
"Aluminum foil" is the comparison against other make metal bodies that comes to mind...
Put a roll cage in these if you are even "thinking" about putting your family in it and going off road with it...

WOW!!! BUGOUT4x4 I'm sorry your Jeep is a gonner are you going to build a new one? Damn that sucks see that is why I want tubing on mine even if I don't plan to do anything crazy it will still protect it against any tree damage in the event I slide into one, etc. I mean nothing is going to be 100% damage proof but I prefer to build it so I can play hard with mine and then also come out of the trails with no major issues.
I already got a co-worker buddy who is helping with this once we get back. I mean it won't happen right away but perhaps after this summer we will get time to put it in his shop for the roll bar mod!
