Default The Beast

Just a simple place to put all my thoughts. Right now, just the planning. As I get them done I will update each item with a post # as reference. These are not in order of goal, just the list. Also, some items may change, if they do I will update the change and reference post as needed. This way all the discussions can be as separate posts and not clog up this build page.

The Beast is a 1990 XJ. Mileage at time of purchase 180k. Work done so far:
Oil Pressure Sending Unit (unresponsive pressure guage)
High mileage belt (Napa brand)
Oil change at 189k (Royal Purple 10w30 NAPA filter)
NAPA branded fuel filter (dies, sputtered, no start)
Oil filter neck adapter o-ring (bad leak after oil change)
Negative battery cable (almost 18" fully exposed copper!!)
Junkyard driver side door (omg old one busted all over! Creature Comforts of the Butt

And remaining list: (in no particular order!)
Safaripal JK LED Taillights
Rugged Ridge Snorkel Precleaner
Triple Fan radiator setup in debate HERE
TNT Coilover rear end Long Arms and front long arm discussion HERE
Hurst Short Throw shifter discussion HERE
Oliver's Double Cardan Driveshaft
J.W. Speaker 8900 LED headlights
Iron Rock Off-road over-the-knuckle steering upgrade
Ares Fab rear quarter panel armor in debate with myself because I need to change the rear end for shocks and springs... I guess I could mod this armor after my rear end upgrade... Also planning on following THIS guide to "tub" the rear... Gonna be a ton of mods when I get this far!
FOX 2" bump stops
Skull Steelies
Dick Cepek Crushers if I can find them. This is NOT the right size. If not Crushers, then Extreme Country
Brown Dog Industries Polyurethane Motor Mounts Super Kit

Haven't looked for:
Long travel shocks. Only want 3-4" of lift
Steering box brace (know I'm gonna need it)
Decent price winch (would LOVE WARN but they are $$$)
Good rear bumper
Roof rack
Sliders
Currently building a new DASH
EDIT: Adding My Jeep Was STOLEN

Quite the list of things to do with this build and I will be following to see all the things you do accomplish and don't accomplish for whaver life reasons throw at you. Is this a new build right? So photos of your XJ would be awesome!!! Yes you have one in your avatar but we love photos!!

I got to check out that "tub" the rear build link you sent I would be interested in that.

What part of Western Washington?

Will take some pics tomorrow. As I remember things, I will update the first post I made. Such as the motor mounts I just added! Also, forgot to add that I did get some new wheels and tires. Will post those up as well

I'm in Bremerton, hopefully not for much longer, looking for a place near Silverdale/Poulsbo/Kingston

No worries we just like photos over here or it didn't happen! Maybe I'm just being selfish because I'm not home from my deployment yet to mess with mine and I love looking at all the work everyone has done or is doing to thiers. Jealous~! Keeping me busy out here lol

Sure! I might be able to do baby trails right now, but I rub in the front and no lift done yet. My estimate is summer, maybe early fall, once I get shocks and springs to lift 3". This build log is all goals for the build, some parts are gonna be waiting for a while

Default Pics!

Got a request for pics, so I took some! Woulda got out yesterday but was down with a stomach bug
without any further adieus, the pics! Front end
Side profile. Note that the rear driver sits about 1" lower than rear passenger
As seen here
Kissed by truck I was pulling out. They neglected to tell me that they had no brakes

Yes, it's been rhinolined... Very poorly. There are numerous places they didn't get enough, and they got ALL weatherstripping! Hood, doors, rear hatch, everything. Also, they did the interior, and got the stuff on portions of the wiring harness and a few connectors

Just a few pics of the interior... Still fighting with the wiring harness. Weather has been prohibitive of me getting much done.

Look ma! No shrouds! Also missing the aux fan...
And associated wiring
Passenger side...
Really need new motor mounts
Note:EGR not attached to anything.
And lots of shoddy zipties.
Well, that's what I have for now.

Wow I don't mean to come off sounding harsh but did you get that for free? I sure hope you did or next to nothing you got your work cut out for you. Here I thought I was starting off bad well I could be worse then you I still have not seen mine in person lol just photos. I would love to help you out with your build when I get home if you need help. That is a project for sure! Refresh my memory what your plans are with this? Are you going to turn it into a overland build or off roading build? Or DD?
