Default What is an XJ Dana 44 worth?

Pulled one from and 87 XJ awhile back. Was going to swap out the 35 but the 35 serves its purpose for what I use my XJ for. And I bought a house that needs remodeled in February and just don't have a lot of time for most of my Jeep projects for awhile so I am probably going to let it go.

Popped the pumpkin and the gears look to be in great shape. Looks like it is geared 3.55.

One bolt on the cover snapped but not a big deal to get out.

Seen a guy in one of the facebook groups awhile back asking $650, seems like a lot to me. He said he gets them once in awhile and gets that for them?

I could see 650 for a full width d44, but the XJ d44 is pretty application specific. That said, I could see paying 3-400 for the XJ d44 easily.

$650 seems insane. If you can get it, get it, but I imagine $400 would be a stretch. I talked to a junk yard and he said $200 but wasn't sure if he had one. Go on ebay and search closed listings for a guide on price.

I've been hunting for one on & off to replace my 35. Finally found one with a locker in it and wound up buying the whole '87 XJ for 1300. It's geared & clearanced for 35s so I'm leaving my '90 alone and will wheel the crap out of the '87.

Oooooh, it's limited slip, too.

I wouldn't part with it for less than $400.

Out of curiosity, how can you tell it's limited slip? I changed the rear diff fluid on my Waggie awhile back and it looked just like that, so I assume mine is limited slip as well, but frankly I have no idea how to tell. when looking at the gears.
