Right on. FWIW, the upgraded alternator makes my headlights a little brighter, even with the upgraded harness. Really really happy with my setup. Neal's cables, group 34 Duralast Gold battery, 136amp alternator, and Putco harness for the headlights. My voltage game is "SKRONG"! lol

use gas buddy, thats how i found a station with fuel

use an HEB if you can theyve got the line super organized, i was only there 30-45 minutes compared to the insane lines else where
Yeah it was at 2.59 on Friday when I filled up mine and my wife's car... but that's up from only 2.23 before that. No idea what it is now.

x2 on the Gass Buddy app... definitely a big help, especially when travelling.

136 amp XJ 98 "Camper Package" alt? Any chance you have a part # on that? Kinda of curious about that. Can't seem find it in my '98 parts catalog.

Thanks for that. I should probably replace my battery cables at some point. Figure might as well upgrade. Also looked into the bigger alt upgrade. Not like I need it but since I am there... Also figure do the headlight harness and call it a day. This is all next year stuff. Thing is I want the alt to just bolt in. I know grinding down stuff for the GC or Durango one is no big deal but... So I checked with a guy I know who rebuilds alts among other things. He feels he can get up to about 150 amps out of a stock XJ alt with the proper parts. That would make it a straight bolt in for me which is what I want. Now I know that technically those alts that you posted don't fit an '00. Thinking maybe a connector. But regardless why do guys go through the trouble, for 136 amp GC one, when they can just buy the Autozone one you posted?

Ah hah!

And the ring terminal was loose. Probably got loose when I moved the alt during the timing chain job. that explains the burn up.

All fixed up and charging perfectly. Thankfully it appears no damage done to the alternator itself.

So I finished the sound deadening in the passenger rear quarter. Out with the old and in with the new lower sill plate. You have no idea how much that bugged me. Been like that since I bought the Jeep. With the Camel interior and the fact that they are almost always broken anyway the boneyard would have probably not panned out anytime in the near future. If ever. And when it breaks in a month I will be steamed.

So I got the Line-X'ed door molding back on. Used the 3M 08984 Adhesive Remover, 3M 06396 Adhesion Promoter, and the 5952 3M VHB tape in 1/4" and 1/2". That tape is no joke. Not forgiving at all. I could have gotten them more centered, even, and pretty sure the driver's front door molding is not making contact all across the door at the top. See myself redoing that when again when it starts to pull away from the door. But it is what it is. I tried.

I have no idea how you guys do all the work you do on your Jeeps. I'm beat. Decided to finish out the day and scuff up the supports for the running boards. Ready for prep and POR 15'ing.

I hope everybody is having a safe and Happy Labor Day.

Felt so proud after installing a fuse bus/bar for the additional wiring (camper, brake controller, off-road lights, and light harness). Then not feeling so proud after I realized that I installed it right in the perfect position to block the hood support bar. Had to redo the job and lower it by about .5 inch. Doh!

Took the screw-up as an opportunity to add a fuse between the battery and the fuse box. Little nervous having all those mains directly off the battery sitting right over by the grounded chassis.

Love that camel interior. Looks great. Is that rear passenger quarter box the OEM that some Jeeps had?

I'm all over the place. Finally got my XJ back from the alignment shop and then the body shop. Got my valve cover off. Got my shifter handle off (easy but lost 3 clips). Sanded the cowl to be painted along with the hood. Everything stripped from the interior except for the driver's seat and console. Got my stabilizer and sway bar assembly painted. Just got back from Walmart getting supplies.

Thank you. I never heard it referred to as a quarter box. CD Enclosure is the term I am familiar with. Grabbed a shot off the internet so you could see one straight on. Also a picture of the Lido storage box that goes in that position too. I picked this up off Craigslist about a year ago. Some said Jeep on them instead of Lido but were the same box. Don't know what I am going to do with it but I figured I would grab it because I would never come across another one in my lifetime. Gotta tell you. I love your Jeep. My first XJ was a '96. Loved that Jeep. Thing ran great. Structurally she was a disaster. If I new how to weld I would have saved her. Yours is so clean compared to what I had.

Well I pulled mine off of insurance today. Putting it up for trade or sale. Sucks to have to do it.
