I started to get an odd clicking sounds when braking harder then normal. I also had some odd vibes going on. So I did some noggin pokin and came to the conclusion that it was the driveshaft. After talking to the guys over at Adams Driveshaft, they agreed. The original one they built for me was too short. So I took some measurements, shot them over to Adams and a few days later had a new shaft. You can see the length difference in them.

I slapped the new one in and took it for a spin. No more odd vibes and no more clicking. It sits right where it should now. Still need to do a freeway test.

And of course, I had to take it to the top of the street to make sure it really worked and wasnt going to fall off. It does not clunk any more when shifting or going from off the gas to back on the gas. Overall success! Highly recommend anyone looking for a driveshaft to go to Adams!

On another note, I think I am going to be replacing my front spring. 3 reasons why. #1 they are stiff. #2 the rear sits higher then the front still. #3 they pull way too far out of the bucket when flexing. So I am going to do 4.5" springs this time. I am looking for something that has a softer spring rate and is quite a bit longer then my current spring. I know the RE 4.5" spring has a better rate and is longer but are there any better options out there? Are some 4.5" springs longer then others?
I'm having a similar problem with my drive-line you were having. I have 2 Adam's driveshafts right now..Front and Rear. I'm having the clunking when engaging the throttle and when I take my foot of the throttle suddenly. Also having some weird vibes around 50, very faint but it's there. Also when I'm decelerating with no throttle engagement when above 50-55MPH. I'm thinking my driveshaft may be a little too short after reading this post and a few others. Did you have to pay for them to build you a new driveshaft? Or did they just send you a new one and you're going to send the used one back?

Yep you sound like you have the exact same issues I was having. I also have them front and rear but my front one seems to fit fine. Just shoot them over an email with your center to center measurements and they will tell you if it is correct. Cost me nothing to have them swap it out for the right length and I bought the shaft a few months ago. I still havent got mine over 50 mph so I dont know if the vibes are gone going 70 mph or so but the odd vibes at 15-25 are gone for sure. Those vibes were driving me crazy since that is the average trail speed around here and I could hear it (like an exhaust drone) the entire time I was wheelin!

Perfect, thanks for the reply. I really didn't want to have to buy new driveshafts. I sent them an email this morning, it's crazy that they will swap them out even after putting some miles on them. Such a good company, still waiting to hear back from them. Hopefully your problems stay away, good luck!

Thats what I said too! Such great customer service it is crazy! I dont know what they are going to say once they get the old shaft back cause it no longer telescopes. Pretty sure it is hurt. Good luck with yours and keep us posted.

They sent me a chart which showed me that my front driveshaft is the correct length, but not one for the rear. I just emailed them back with pictures of the slip/spline portion for the rear. That part measured at about 2 1/4". Do you happen to remember what yours measured out to be?

Thanks. That is pretty much exactly what mine is measuring. So I guess the issue isn't my driveshaft then. Got some more digging to do then, thanks again for the help.

Not a problem! Hope you get it figured out. Just a thought since it happened to me a little after the sye install, check the nut on the output shaft on the t-case. Mine was a half turn loose and was causing a clunk and vibration. I could wiggle everything around by hand.

Will do, the nut that holds the yoke on?

Wooo! Just voted for your rig. Currently put you in a tie with one of the others. Good luck!

Thanks man! Much appreciated. I want to win one of these months! But the guy I am tied with has a pretty nice rig. Should be a close match.

Weeks later another update. Just been driving the Jeep with no problems. I decided to make some long time needed updates. First up, shim the rear end to get the proper pinion angle. Second up, take a leaf out. It had a very rough ride and sat too high. Overall success. Might need to take another leaf out but going to put more miles on it before I come to a co conclusion. Going to take it on a 1000 mile trip this weekend.

I am very curios to see what you think of your ride quality now?

Gotta be careful though. Taking out too many leafs can lead to axle wrap.
